Former FOREIGNER vocalist Lou Gramm recently spoke to Artisan News about the honor of being recognized by the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, his reconnection with bandmate and writing partner Mick Jones, the accident that changed his fortunes for the better and the tumor that made his life a living hell, his fulfilling personal life, recollections about recording "4", the success and impact of "I Want To Know What Love Is", and FOREIGNER's legacy. Although their split was among the most bitter in rock, on June 13, FOREIGNER co-founders Jones and Gramm shared a stage to perform at their induction into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. The Hall's 44th annual induction and awards dinner and gala was once again be held at Manhattan's Marriott Marquis Hotel. The performance marked the first time the pair had seen one another in three years and the first time they've made music together in a decade.

With Mick Jones recently undergoing extensive open heart surgery and Lou Gramm battling back against a non-malignant brain tumor, the two rockers — who once fought like blood brothers — have both mellowed at the thought of their songwriting team being immortalized. Mick Jones told The Pulse Of Radio that he's looking forward to every aspect of reconnecting with Lou Gramm on Thursday. "Y'know, the main thing for me is that we both feel that same way, we're both happy for each other and its a wonderful achievement and it'll mean. . . it's one of the most meaningful things that'll happen in our lifetime for us," he said.

Long-estranged FOREIGNER co-founders Mick Jones and Lou Gramm, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame on June 13 at Manhattan's Marriott Marquis Hotel. Both Jones and Gramm, who parted ways in 2003 when Gramm quit the band, have suffered from health problems over recent years, with Gramm surviving a brain tumor and Jones recently undergoing open-heart surgery. Gramm, who still performs and is a born-again Christian, was replaced by current lead singer Kelly Hansen in 2005. FOREIGNER was inducted by Billy Joel, and Jones and Gramm reunited to perform "Juke Box Hero" and "I Want To Know What Love Is" to a massive standing ovation.

Lou Gramm told The Pulse Of Radio that he was pleasantly surprised that there even was a Songwriters Hall Of Fame. "I had no I. . . Y'know, there's the Grammys, there's the American Music Awards. . . The Songwriters Hall Of Fame awards is a little bit underplayed — you don't hear about it very much. I don't know if it's even televised. When my management told me that Mick and I were nominated, I said, 'What is it? What is that award, y'know?' So, when it was explained to me, I obviously realized it was a great honor."
